Experts say the fungus comes from root stem farms in Virginia and North Carolina. So far, it looks like the fungus is under control.The fungus kills the plant long before it ever bears fruit and, with proper care and early detection, it doesn't spready to the surrounding plants, so ripe strawberries are healthy, and the fungus poses no threat to people.
